Check out the best Acer laptops for 2020 and discover a selection of the best deals that can save you money on your next laptop upgrade.

If you are on the lookout for a new laptop, Acer would have no doubt come across your radar. With affordable price tags and easy-to-use designs, there is a range of different laptop models to suit every consumer’s needs. This computing brand has become increasingly popular for students, work from home employees, and even for budget gaming laptops.

With that being said, you can’t just purchase a new laptop without knowing the details and the most popular models. Our team at Dealorium regularly tests tech items to give reviews that can help consumers make decisions easier. Whether you are looking for a laptop with high-quality graphics, large SSD storage, or long battery life, we have tried to include an option for everybody.

To some people brand names are everything but there really is no need to focus on a brand name here. We want to look at the performance and specifications that define the laptop. This will allow you to assess whether you want to spend $4,000 on an Apple MacBook or $500 on an Acer laptop that will do the same tasks with the same reliability.

Is Acer a Good Laptop?

Over the years Acer has picked up a reputation for having bad laptops. However, Acer has a range of good laptops available for every price point and for every use. The best way to assess if Acer is a good laptop is to test the laptop you want before purchasing.

Whilst Acer has picked up a bad reputation, there are many positives about the brand and laptops that it has to offer. You can find affordable options no matter what your budget is with some models starting at $299, this is much better than other brands. They make for great student laptops due to their affordability, especially as they would be prone to breaking.

That being said, the less you pay for a laptop, the lower the performance you are going to get. You can’t expect to pay $200 for a gaming laptop and expect it to perform the same as a $2,000 gaming laptop. That’s why you always need to consider exactly what you want a laptop for. If it’s for writing word documents and browsing the internet, a budget option is for you. If you want to stream, edit, game, or perform demanding tasks, then you would need to spend a little more.

Which is The Best Acer Laptop to Buy?

If you are looking for which is the best Acer laptop to buy then you need to consider what you want. A good all-round laptop would be the Acer Swift 3, a good gaming laptop would be the Acer Predator Hellios, and a budget option as the Acer Swift 3 laptop.

Our pick of the best Acer laptop to buy would probably be the Acer Swift 7. The Acer Swift 7 is affordable, lightweight, and can perform the tasks you need. You will find that it is only 9.95 mm thick and weighs 890 g. This makes it the perfect travel companion and an on-the-go laptop. Acer also boasts that the Swift 7 has a 92% screen to display ratio which makes for a pleasant viewing experience.

That was just a brief overview of the Acer Swift 7, we will go into a bit more detail further in the article. We would suggest that you consider the reasons you need a laptop before making a decision. With every product on our list we will suggest what the laptop is best used for to help you make a more informed decision.

Prices and stores where you can purchase Acer laptops will be listed. However, please note that these links can be for specific models that will vary in price and specifications.

The 6 Best Acer Laptops & Deals in 2020

1: Acer Swift 3

The Acer Swift 3 laptop is a great option for those on a budget and looking for an all-round laptop. The prices start from $399 for the most basic model and the more expensive you go, the better the specifications you will get in the laptop.

For this laptop we have chosen to review the model SF313-52-52VA which comes in at $799. The laptop is lightweight at 2.65 lb which makes it easy to carry around for working on the go. For comparison, the MacBook Air weighs 2.8 lb. With such a lightweight laptop you would assume that the battery life would decrease significantly however, the Acer Swift 3 boasts a 10.5 hour battery life.

As for the performance of the Acer Swift 3, we found that it was more suited to everyday tasks rather than performance hungry tasks. Acer even mentions that this laptop is “engineered for mobile performance” therefore you would expect that it would be for those who travel often and perhaps work on the commute.

To focus on some negative aspects of the Acer Swift 3, we didn’t particularly like the design of the laptop due to a crowded keyboard and unused display area. The laptop also does not cope well when multitasking a number of applications. Overall the Acer Swift 3 is a good laptop and would be reliable for most that are looking for a general everyday laptop.

2: Acer Swift 7

Again, there are multiple Swift 7 models available with different specs but in particular we want to focus on the model SF714-51T-M4PV. If you are looking for a lightweight laptop that is extremely thin, then you have found it. The Acer Swift 7 has managed to innovate with a weight of 890g and only 9.95mm thin. To put that into perspective, that’s roughly the same as carrying 2 notepads.

Another amazing feature of the Acer Swift 7 is the touchscreen display which has a 92% screen to body ratio. This increases productivity and allows for a convertible tablet use too. Performance wise, the laptop is a little on the slow side and would generally not cope with multitasking.

Whilst this laptop is innovative and seems appealing at first, it does actually have many flaws. The reason why this laptop is so light and thin is due to the fanless design and when you remove the fans, it becomes difficult to control the heat of the processor resulting in slow performance. The features of the touchscreen, keyboard, and webcam also appear to be more of a gimmick than useful.

Overall, we don’t actually think this laptop is worth the price tag. It can be useful for everyday working without performance demanding tasks, but nothing that can excuse the price tag.

3: Acer Chromebook Spin 713

Focusing on the lower priced model we have an exceptionally designed touchscreen Chromebook. Similar to other Acer laptop modes, the Acer Chromebook spin can fold for use as a tablet and then converted back for laptop use. Again, when we compare this laptop to other models, there is still only a 10-hour battery life, which would be significantly lowered with performance demanding tasks.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 713 weighs around 3.02 lb and is heavier than other lightweight models, however, it is still built for portability and convenience. Obviously, this laptop runs on the Chrome Operating System which is built purposely for simplicity and ease-of-use. This does come with some downsides in terms of how much you can actually do with the laptop and it would therefore be suited for someone looking for a basic/casual laptop.

The screen display is generous and allows for a bigger aspect ratio to improve viewing performance. There is also a neat feature of the Acer Chromebook Spin 713, which is the “quick wake” feature. This allows you to open the laptop and immediately jump back into work rather than waiting 10 seconds for a login screen to load.

This laptop is a very basic model and the price for the lower-end models is acceptable. We would recommend this for commuters looking to work on the go and a basic everyday use laptop.

4: Acer Predator Helios 700

Check out the Helios models at Acer.

Gaming laptops are becoming a more popular choice for customers over desktops, especially as technology allows them to perform with better capabilities.

On the Acer website, the Predator Helios 700 starts at a whopping $2399.99 but there are deals on other major retailers that will save you $200-300. With such a high price tag, you would expect to get the same high-performance as other gaming laptops on the market. That is exactly what you get with this laptop, high-speeds, good battery life, and a real powerhouse.

The problem with this gaming laptop is the size. As gaming laptops need more power and cooling, the chassis is usually bigger to accommodate. The Predator Helios 700 however, is huge. We can safely say you will not be carrying this laptop around with you, especially considering the weight is 10.58 lb. For gamers though, this is not an issue as gaming laptops usually stay at home where you can game properly.

The specifications are very generous on this gaming laptop and will change depending on which one of the three models you choose from. Generally gaming laptops make a lot of noise due to the heat, but with the Acer Predator Helios 700, the fans are surprisingly quiet.

Overall we think that this is a great gaming laptop but maybe a bit too pricey compared to other brands.

5: Acer Chromebook 314

The Acer Chromebook 314 is a low-end laptop with prices ranging from $229 up to $429. In terms of entry-level laptops, this one has some really positive reviews amongst consumers. In particular, we noticed that the battery life was a particular selling point of this laptop. With 12-hour battery life, the Acer Chromebook 314 competes with high-end MacBooks. Granted, these laptops are not focused on large RAM or fast processors, but equally the battery life is excellent.

There is no touchscreen on these models which could also be a contributing factor to the low price-tag. It is a well-balanced laptop with general features that you would expect, but you also shouldn’t expect to use this laptop for performance demanding tasks. That being said, it still provides a generous performance when undergoing normal tasks.

The laptop is slightly bigger than other Chromebooks but nevertheless it is still portable and lightweight. There are enough ports on the laptop for all your connections and the keyboard is very pleasant to type on when you are working.

We would highly recommend this laptop if you are on a budget and need an every laptop.

6: Acer Chromebook Spin 13

It may seem as though there are many Chromebooks in this list, however, they are deserving of their place due to the price and performance. The Acer Chromebook Spin 13 is a generous laptop with a high-price tag. If you are looking for a laptop that can provide some extra performance than the entry-level Chromebooks then this is the one for you.

Performance of this laptop is admirable. Benchmark tests performed reasonably well and are surprising for a lightweight Chromebook. However, this doesn’t come without it’s downfall, the battery life. The specifications state 10-hours but with the high performance, you would be lucky to get 6 hours out of that.

The design is very standard, as is the display, but the body of the laptop is still very heavy. Unlike other Acer laptops that are built for portability and being lightweight, this one sacrifices performance and design over weight.

This laptop is good for those who work from home or work on the go due to its generous performance, however, don’t expect to get a full-day’s work out of it without plugging in.
